Souctmaster's Minute for the New Year

With the start of the New Year, each scout must look over last year and ask if your troop provided you with best scouting experience it could.  If we are objective in our review we will see that some things had a positive effect and things a less than positive effect on our scouting experience.  Then you need to think about what you can do to improve your scouting experience.

The questions you need to consider are, “What have I done to help my troop leadership provide me the opportunity for the best Scouting experience?”  “Have I done everything I need to be the best Scout I can be?”

This troop is exactly what you made it - from  your choice of leaders to your choice to live the Scout Oath and Lawto your decision to participate.  All these effect what you get from Scouting. Look at what has been offered to you and what is asked of you. You get to have fun hiking and camping. You learned new skills or sharpened old ones. You were asked to work hard and rewarded for it. Sometimes things were not so fun and happy.

So now as we start a new year, maybe you can choose to live more cheerfully… be a little more friendly… or take your duties a little more seriously. But through it all your Scouti experience can only be measured your commitment.
